PFC Makes Tremendous Strides with Programmatic Outcomes that Demonstrate the Impact of Our Important Work on Families and Children
Many outstanding accomplishments were collectively achieved by the PFC grantees during the 2010-11 fiscal year. The achievements are a direct result of the “we’ factor. The “we” factor consists of:
- the leadership and support provided by our highly dedicated Board of Directors,
- a team of committed direct service partners,
- a community of compassionate and professional early childhood educators,
- the hard work and commitment of a competent staff, and
- many other caring individuals and good citizens who are all doing what they can to make our community a better place “to be a child or raise a child.”

The Early Intervention Team at the Cumberland County Mental Health Department Provides "Instruction Book" to Parents
Strong families are critical to the development of strong communities. Through the use of Smart Start funds, family support programs are provided in our community. These programs assist parents in a variety of ways to include parenting education, one-on-one parenting support, and early literacy development. So many parents say they wish their child had come with an instruction book; and the Early Intervention Team at the Cumberland County Mental Health Department provides a program that is just the “instruction book” parents need! Living in the New Normal: A Collaboration to Build Resiliency in Military Children and Families
Since the terrorist attacks of 9/11, the physical, psychological and emotional environment we live in has changed. For military-connected communities, this has been intensified by extended deployments to war and the resulting injuries or death for members of the Armed Forces. The Military Child Education Coalition describes this as “Living in the New Normal.” (www.militarychild.org)
Because of this “new normal,” LINN is dedicated to the prevention of social, emotional and behavioral challenges, and is committed to building resiliency in military children. A diverse array of representatives from inside and outside of the gate of Fort Bragg join forces on the LINN Steering Committee: helping professionals, community leaders, service organizations, and military representatives. Currently, the LINN Steering Committee is planning the 2nd Annual Forward March Conference in October. Link.
